Tribune Tower Tour

Venue: 625 N Michigan Ave, Chicago

Built in 1925, this historic and well-known Chicago building that was originally built for the Chicago Tribune newspaper and designed by Raymond Hood and John Mead Howells, has recently been redeveloped as luxury residential units. Vacated in 2018, the 34-story tower underwent restoration and development for the new residences that will house the structure. Preservation and restoration was completed on the historic façade, original entry and tower lobby ensuring its continued architectural stature. The retail frontage of the original printing plant was also be redeveloped, activating a reimagined Pioneer Court and plaza.

Learn about the challenges and motivations from the people* involved in the renovation and then take a tour into some of the restored neo-Gothic spaces – including the crown terrace and an unoccupied unit, where the flying buttresses continue to inspire.
