Lendlease’s more than twenty mass timber projects completed globally are demonstrating how this technology can improving environmental, social and economic outcomes. Recognizing the benefits to people, planet and profit is only the first step. Tall timber buildings, made entirely of mass timber or hybrid constructions of steel-timber and timber-concrete, are gaining popularity worldwide. Timber is a sustainable, renewable material that stores carbon while in use, and its use in skyscrapers has a clear advantage for climate change. Managing the design and construction carefully to achieve the right balance of these elements is crucial. This presentation will lean on project examples to demonstrate key considerations for achieving designs that meet the triple bottom line.
