Founding Principal and Partner, Studio Gang Architects
Chicago

Across its diverse portfolio, Studio Gang seeks to create measurable positive
change for their users, communities, and natural ecology—a mission the studio calls
“actionable idealism.” Through an exploration of several of the Studio’s projects –
both completed and in-progress – Founding Principal and Partner Jeanne Gang
discusses her approach to designing tall buildings to create connections at multiple
scales and across multiple groups. From fostering genuine community among
residents to establishing porous ground plane links that enhance the public realm,
she will demonstrate how design can resist the notion of skyscrapers as
impenetrable and isolated, and instead serve a critical role in the reimagining of
denser, more livable urban neighborhoods.
