Diamond Sponsor Sun Hung Kai Properties to Support International Research Seed Funding
We’re pleased to announce that Sun Hung Kai Properties, a Diamond Sponsor of the CTBUH 2023 International Conference, will support this year’s International Research Seed Funding initiative, which assists talented researchers in developing projects and ideas to a level that can secure additional funding. The winning proposal will be revealed at this year’s conference, Humanizing High Density—People, Nature & the Urban Realm, taking place 16–21 October, in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The seed funding initiative is a key component of CTBUH’s academic funding and competitions program, which enables students and professionals to examine a wide variety of challenges and solutions in the realm of sustainable vertical urbanism. Topics for the seed funding initiative, for example, can derive from an extensive list of research areas identified in the “Roadmap on the Future Research Needs of Tall Buildings,” produced by CTBUH in conjunction with UNESCO and CIB. These areas include the social sustainability of tall buildings, the economic impact of tall buildings, and many more. The objective of the seed funding initiative is to produce an official CTBUH Research Report, much like those available here.
Founded in 1972, Sun Hung Kai has become one of the most prominent property companies in Hong Kong and is an exemplary partner for the seed funding initiative. The group’s innovative thinking imbues vertical integration in every aspect of its operations, from planning, material sourcing, and construction to project monitoring and property management, ensuring the highest standards in every aspect of development. Additionally, Sun Hung Kai’s seasoned management team employs thoughtful strategies for long-term business development, and its philosophy includes a strong sense of social responsibility, both to customers and the public.
This approach, along with its commitment to establishing strong relationships with its tenants, is demonstrated throughout its impressive portfolio of properties, which includes the International Commerce Centre, located in West Kowloon, Hong Kong. At 1,588 feet tall, the International Commerce Centre is currently the tallest building in Hong Kong and a testament to Sun Hung Kai’s excellent commercial, environmental, and community management. This skyscraper is a notable example of sustainability, utilizing many energy-saving features, such as a low-emission curtain wall, and a pioneering waste management program, which inspired participation from 90% of occupants as of 2012. By implementing “greenkeeping” and extending its waste management program to the surrounding area, Sun Hung Kai continues to honor its commitment to contribute to the good of the community to make Hong Kong a better home for everyone.
