Takanawa Gateway City is a 1.25 million m² mixed-use development spanning 1.6 km in Tokyo. Inspired by Japan’s distinctive geography, the master plan emulates an archipelago. It is presented alongside three other projects in Tokyo, Dublin, and Düsseldorf, comparing second-generation post-WWII developments that balance context, scale, and placemaking.
